Requirements/Certification

ALL FEES ASSOCIATED WITH BELOW REGISTRATIONS WILL BE REIMBURSED BY SBBLC WITH PROOF OF COMPLETION

All Coaches need to complete all CEP, SafeSport and the Background Checks to be allowed on the bench and or ice with your team.   All coaches (head and assistants) must be educated at the proper clinic level and have completed the following: 

• Register with USA Hockey
• Complete the required background screening
• Complete the required SafeSport training
• Complete the appropriate Age-Specific Training Module
• Complete Proper Clinic Level before Dec. 31

#1 - Obtain a USA Hockey Coaching Number (Prior to being placed on USA Hockey Roster)

*** Once you have received your USA Hockey number please inform your Association Registrar

#2 - Complete MN Background Screening (Prior to being placed on USA Hockey Roster)

#3 - Complete SafeSport Training (Prior to being placed on USA Hockey Roster)

#4 - Complete Age Specific Modules (Prior to being placed on USA Hockey Roster)

#5 - Attend Coaching Clinic. Coaching registration will indicate if in person or on Zoom. Those that are in person trainings will be held at a local rink a few times per year. Please be aware that if you miss your required level of training, you are no longer eligible to coach.

#6 - Complete Concussion Training (Included in modules) It is good for one calendar year. If you have taken the training with another youth sport program please send your association registrar your certificate along with the Coach Concussion Certification sheet attached and filled out.
